What is the Real Life Diaries book series?
Storytelling is as old as mankind. It's how we pass along wisdom and preserve history. It's also how we raise awareness and connect to our humanity. Born and built on the belief that sharing our stories helps others feel not so alone, Real Life Diaries is a book series dedicated to raising awareness about real life experiences, offer compassion and comfort to readers who share the same journey, and offer better understanding.
What is an anthology?
An anthology is a collection of responses from a variety of people about the same subject collected into one book.
Who can participate?
Anyone who has been through that journey and desires to share their story. One does not need to be a professional writer or published author to participate.
How does it work?
Each writer will receive 3 questions every week for 6 weeks. At the end, answers will be compiled into a manuscript. You'll have a chance to review the draft and make changes if desired before going to print.
What kind of questions will I have to answer?
The focus of the questions will be on your personal experience and journey. If a question is too painful for you to answer, pass over it. You can always come back to it later.
Who can coauthor?
Anyone! You don't need to be a professional writer to coauthor. Some use this as a springboard to their own author career, others coauthor for the lifetime of royalties, and still others want to coauthor to add credibility to their resume. No matter why you want to coauthor, you can!
I want to co-author. How can I do that?
Click on the co-author registration to join as a co-author. Every book allows up to two co-authors (first come first serve). The cost is $450. In return, you'll earn credibility to your career and a percentage of royalties for life.
Can I use a pen name?
Yes. Using a pen name will protect your safety, and allow you to be completely transparent and truthful. Your registration should be in your legal name, though your true identity will remain confidential.
May I participate on behalf of someone else?
No. All submissions must be first-person accounts.
I want to share my story but I don't see a title for it. What should I do?
Let us know! Most titles in the Grief Diaries and Real Life Diaries series were inspired by someone who asked. Chance are high that if you have walked a particular journey, others have too.
Who owns my story? What if I want to write my own book later?
You retain ownership of your story at all times, and are free to publish it elsewhere. You are merely granting anthology copyright permission for AlyBlue Media to publish your submissions in the book series.
